Polaris RM3100
The Polaris RM3100 is a dedicated peripheral sensor module designed to bring professional-grade redundancy to large-format multirotors, fixed-wing aircraft, and other demanding UAV platforms. By combining the industry-leading PNI RM3100 magneto-inductive magnetometer with the high-precision Infineon DPS368 barometer into a compact standalone module, the Polaris delivers a clean, interference-free sensor solution well away from the noise of motors, ESCs, and power electronics.
Communicating entirely over DroneCAN, the Polaris RM3100 integrates seamlessly alongside existing GPS modules and flight controllers without additional wiring complexity. It is purpose-built for systems where sensor failure is not an option.
Key Features
- PNI RM3100 Magnetometer: Magneto-inductive technology with 23× better resolution and 33× lower noise than conventional Hall-effect sensors
- DPS368 Barometer: High-precision pressure sensing with exceptional relative and absolute accuracy
- DroneCAN Interface: Plug-and-play integration with ArduPilot and PX4 flight stacks over a standard CAN bus
- Redundancy-First Design: Intended as a secondary or tertiary sensor node for large copters, VTOL, and fixed-wing aircraft where sensor diversity is critical
- EMI Immunity: RM3100 magneto-inductive technology is inherently resistant to electromagnetic interference from motors and power systems
- Remote Mounting: Standalone module with cable allows placement far from onboard noise sources for clean magnetic readings
- No Drift, No Hysteresis: RM3100 delivers stable, drift-free measurements over time and temperature without requiring recalibration
- Wide Operating Temperature: Rated for operation across -40°C to +85°C
Typical Applications
- Large Multirotors & Octocopters — Redundant compass and baro for heavy-lift platforms where a single sensor failure cannot be tolerated
- Fixed-Wing & VTOL — Clean heading reference mounted away from fuselage electronics and carbon fiber structures
- Long-Range UAVs — Reliable orientation data on extended missions where GPS-compass interference is a common failure mode
